Description

Honor Saint Sava of Serbia with this Orthodox Christian icon, depicting the beloved Serbian hierarch, monastic, and first Archbishop of Serbia. Saint Sava is commemorated on January 14. Born Rostislav, he left the royal court as a young man for Mount Athos, received monastic tonsure, and later helped found Hilandar Monastery with his father, Saint Simeon.

As Archbishop, Saint Sava organized the Serbian Church, built and consecrated churches, guided monastic life according to Athonite and Palestinian models, and helped establish the institutional life of the Serbian Church. His canonical legacy also includes The Rudder (Nomocanon), a foundational collection of canon law preserved throughout the Slavic Orthodox world.

This icon reproduction is printed on museum-quality matte canvas, with saturated coloration that lends the image a rich, handwritten-icon appearance. It is mounted on a beveled wooden board and finished with a high-quality UV-protective sealant for added durability and a subtle, authentic-feeling texture.

Each icon is handcrafted in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A maple-shelled keyhole slot on the reverse allows for easy, balanced hanging in a home or parish. The sealed surface may be cleaned with a damp cloth.
