Description
Thaddeus of Vitovnica, also known as Elder Thaddeus was a Serbian Orthodox archimandrite at Vitovnica Monastery from 1962 until 1972. He became known as an Elder and every day received all who came to him for advice, support and consolation. The Elder was most known for his idea that "our thoughts determine [the outcome of] our lives".
He departed this life on 13 March 2003 and was buried in the monastery of Vintovitsa. He is venerated by his many spiritual children, especially Serbians and Bosnians, including former Muslims whom he converted to Christ.
"When a well-meaning pilgrim suggested the elder clean the breadcrumbs from his flowing beard, Elder Thaddeus revealed that what appeared as untidiness was actually compassion—those crumbs fed the sparrows who would visit him."
