Feast Day/Commemorated: November 10 / October 28
Saint Arsenios of Cappadocia, was born Theodorus Annitsalichos in a Cappadocian Christian village, became an orphan at a young age and was raised by his aunt. Educated in Niğde and Smyrna, he learned multiple languages alongside theological studies. At 26, he became a monk in Caesarea and was given the name Arsenios and was later ordained a priest and archimandrite. Secretly, Saint Arsenios taught Greek in the Ottoman-ruled Farasa. Revered as Hadjiephentis after his pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he became a true spiritual guide known for miracles of healing. He would be the one to baptize Saint Paisios as an infant naming him after himself and foretelling that the child would grow to likewise follow the angelic life. Saint Arsenios would lead his community to Corfu during the great population exchange. The Saint of God predicted the end of his earthly life, reposing within three months after safely escorting his people to their new home. He was glorified in 1986 as an Orthodox Saint by the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.
